Directed by Manish Harishankar, Laali Ki Shaadi Mein Laaddoo Deewana is a wedding chaos followed by lots of laughter. It’s a comedy adventure film featuring Akshara Haasan as Laali, Vivaan Shah as Laddoo, Gurmeet Choudhary as Veer and Saurabh Shukla as Laali’s father. Laali is a bold and gutsy girl from Vadodara, who falls in love with Laaddo and gets pregnant. But Laddoo isn’t looking for a responsibility of that nature and abandons her. Writer-director Manish Harishankar, who has made his first business venture with this film, fails to leave a remarkable impression on the audiences. The director has tried to present the story in a fancy way but has somehow failed in his job. The characters are poorly sketched and the comic scenes won’t make you laugh. Vivaan Shah’s role is extremely confusing, while Akshara Haasan and Gurmeet Choudhary have performed poorly. The picturesque locations and the screenplay leave no impact. The music of the movie is unimpressive and you’ll be mortified with each and every track. With poor storytelling and intolerable second half it becomes difficult to sit through the entire movie. On the whole, it’s a lengthy boring shaadi which never ends and leaves no impact. Not Recommended!
The dread sets in pretty quickly. Within the first few minutes of the opening credits, actually. And then it hits you: it’s a two-hour movie, and this, is literally just the beginning. But hang on, these were the sane parts of the movie. Soon, a very strangely chauvinistic Laddoo asks Laali to not complain about her boss’ sexual advances. Laddoo’s parents disown him for being an imbecile but Laali’s parents take him in, overlooking the fact that he betrayed their pregnant daughter. And then comes Veer, a golf-playing, horse-riding muscleman prince, whose royal priest asks him to only marry a heavily pregnant girl for good luck. Can you feel your palm going to your forehead? Akshara and Vivaan deliver embarrassingly over-the-top performances. Sanjay Mishra plays the same odd character which he routinely does now, and talents like Darshan Jariwala and Saurabh Shukla are reduced to doing goofy physical comedy. The film is structured so that you connect all the dots within half an hour and are then left with a whole lot nothing to look forward to. Laali Ki Shaadi Mein Laaddoo Deewana has to be some kind of a scientific experiment to study the frequency of fidgeting in a theatre seat. Do you want to contribute to the data?
