The movie starts off with Mudit (Ayushmann) and Sugandha (Bhumi) dancing off on their engagement. Then comes the voice over by Ayushmann and Bhumi, explaining the events that led up to this day. A shy but strong willed Mudit follows Sugandha around in near their office complex Nehru Place. It’s not a creepy stalker following a poor girl, but, more like a school crush, where you both enjoy the following and the eye contacts. One final day, when Mudit decides to finally talk to Sugandha and makes a move towards her, a baby bear, who, god knows why, was dancing at the hands of a madari in the middle of a crowded Nehru Place market, pounces on Mudit and starts humping his leg.
The commotion makes Mudit the famous ‘Bhalu Wala Mudit’. His friend Duggal (Manuj Sharma) suggests to send a proposal via a matrimonial site, and Ayushmann follows. The families meet and both agree to the liaison. Before the marriage can be solemnized, Mudit and Sugandha get intimate one day at Sugandha’s home while her family is at Haridwar, where the wedding ceremony is supposed to take place. About, to have sex, Mudit realizes he is not able to get an erection and makes an excuse to go to the washroom to try to erect his libido. He comes out failed and conveys the problem to Sugandha through a double meaning biscuit falling into tea. As tension brews before the wedding take place, Mudit decides to call off the wedding as he would never be able to satisfy Sugandha sexually. Sugandha tells him that life would not be about sex, as she has fallen in love with her and would be waiting for the ‘baraat’ at Haridwar.
The ‘baraat’ reaches Haridwar and a sad Mudit realizes what Sugandha had wanted to tell him about love and marriage without sex. Sugandha’s father (Neeraj Sood) gets wind of Mudit’s ‘gents problem’ through her WhatsApp messages and takes him to a veterinarian who dismisses it off as one born out of stress and anxiety. Soon, more and more people in the families learn of Mudit’s secret problem. Mudit’s father is unwilling to accept that his son can be at fault even though Mudit himself doesn’t quite get along with his father. As for Sugandha’s father, he is keen to call off the marriage. However, Sugandha’s mother is not in favour of calling it off. As if Mudit’s ‘gents problem’ were not bad enough, Sugandha finds Mudit in bed with his ex-girlfriend in Haridwar even as the pre-wedding ceremonies are underway. That’s the time she walks out in disgust. Turns out, this had all been set up by his friends in a failed attempt to help Mudit get an erection. Mudit loses it and gives a whole speech on how the two families were disrupting the peace between the lovers. He then leaves in search of Sugandha.
A worthless cameo by Jimmy Shergil comes on as he endorses the use of condoms in Haridwar, and tells Mudit to follow his love. Sugandha and Mudit cross each other on the ropeway, and Mudit jumps to get on to Sugandha’s cart while numerous feet in the air. He convinces her of his love, and they both get back home safely. He marries her as soon as they get back home, without waiting for the ceremony that was supposed to happen just that night. Sometime later in their marriage, Mudit does get an erection and the movie fades out.
