With the theme of jail being the hot thing in B-town, this Friday we saw the release of debuts Aadar Jain and Anya Singh in Qaidi Band. Some of these qaidis accidentally find solace in music. This is the onset of a new journey for these people. And this is the basic plot of the movie. Director Habib Faisal intends to highlight a social issue ( the plight of the undertrials), musically here. His thought is noble and taps an uncharted topic but the execution looks naive, dated and a classic case of wishful thinking. The script of the film is below average and often you’ll be left wondering if the editing guy was sleeping his way through it. Amit Trivedi was surely a star in this under-average musical drama because he tried to create magic as much as he could. Now the biggest and the most basic loophole in the story is that of the condition of the under trials. Overall, everything about the movie remains average with decent songs.
