The story starts with the protagonist Jay Verma (Parvin Dabas) trying to take his life. Then the whole film goes on to recollect the event of the past ten days that lead to this decision by him. Jay Verma is a psychiatric professor based out of New Jersey. When a desperate student, Ronnie (Dhruv Bali), comes seeking help, he demands a favour of his own in return. To kill his wife. So far one of the best attempts at a psychological thriller in bollywood. The movie keeps you glued to your screen throughout and uses its characters well (not the actors though). The actors try a bit too hard at points, almost taking away the characters persona and adding their own. The film’s climax makes way for loopholes as everyone is shown to be a pawn in the game. Mirror game is a psychological thriller that you should go and watch.
'Mirror Game' is a psychological thriller that deals with serious conditions like Schizophrenia and Multiple Personality Disorder. The makers however, do not really explain what's going through the mind of a person suffering from them. Mental illness is used to make the film more 'exciting', which is insensitive and doesn't work either. The characters in the film, be it Ronnie, or the police psychologist Dr Roy (Pooja Batra), Detective Shenoy (Sneha Ramachander) don't have any real depth. You don't connect with them or their two-line backstories. The only positive aspect is the way it has been shot. The tone of the film gives you, at times, a sense of urgency and doom. Sadly, that's asking too much as there is no payback because the climax is predictable. For a psychological thriller there are quite a few loose ends tied up crudely which make 'Mirror Game' a rather dull watch
