Meri Shadi Karao is a romantic comedy. It is the story of Kalyan Singh who has lovingly raised his brother's son, Gurdeep as his own. Kalyan Singh harbours a secret unrequited love for his college mate Preetam who married someone else many years ago. By a quirk of fate he comes to know that his old love had been divorced and is looking for a good marital match for her daughter Radhika. Seeing this as an opportunity to meet his old love again he hatches a plan to get Gurdeep married to Radhika. What starts as a well-intentioned union soon spirals into a comedy of errors as the film reaches its climax. Director Syed Noor fails to put together an entertaining tale. The treatment of the script is weak and the writers fail to put together a witty screenplay. The comic situations have been done to death before and therefore fail to leave an impact. Performance-wise, Gurdeep Mehndi, who marks his debut with this film, is good. He needs to focus more on emoting his character. Radhika Vaid fails to impress. Many scenes could have been more comic but the missed opportunity is the lack of humour. As a result, the film begins to lose its tempo. Sure, there are a few moments worth watching but, alas, too few. The film looks amateurish and so do the actors. It looks like they shot the film using a Handy-cam; the film looks outdated as a result.
