If you really want to read a review for this film to convince yourself not to go, even after you’ve seen the trailer, contact us and we’ll set you a psych evaluation. Jattu engineer is a film that no human could have had the strength to go through. But only an Insan could, and so he did. Saint Dr. Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singhji Insan and his daughter, popularly known by FDD (father and daughter duo, because they deserve such a cool abbreviation), have directed this movie. The lengths to which the Insan will go just to stay on screen is commendable in its own right. Based out of the most clichéd representation of a village, the one you could see in an old dusty indian village tale, comes the story of Jattu engineer “science ka baap”. With people shitting, farting using the word pregnant again and again for no apparent reason, and Insan being a part of the whole shenanigan, trust us, lying on a bed of nails is more tolerable. We bet you’re wondering why there is no story in this review. Hey, if the filmmakers didn’t bother with writing the story for the film, why should we?
Movies, unlike TV shows, don't usually have a laugh track. So, when a comedy film has one, you approach it with caution. In Jattu Engineer, the laugh track is almost its soundtrack which you have to endure for two hours and 19 minutes of the film's length. The third project by Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh and his daughter Honeypreet Singh, the film has Gurmeet playing a double role. The issue with the film is the simplistic approach in which Shakti doles out absurd solutions to the villagers' problems. While Gurmeet's acting is another thing you have to endure, the rest of the cast seem to not know where the camera is. Also, Hindi viewers may have a tough time understanding many scenes because a lot of the dialogues are in Haryanvi. A lowbrow slapstick comedy, most gags in Jattu Engineer are centered entirely around the characters stuttering, stammering and passing wind loudly. The movie gets its title from a scene where Shakti ties a cable to a rat's tail and has the critter zigzag through a pipe. Engineering hacks like these may not be sustainable solutions to problems faced by the villagers. They aren't funny either. The film is two hours of loud gags with a handful of preachy messages. Watch at your own risk, this one!
