Bezubaan Ishq is all about the modern romance with a traditional Indian backdrop and values. The concept behind the whole story is pointless according to today’s scenario. Director Jashwant Gangani appears to be stuck in TV mode for his ‘takes’ which appear flat and uninteresting. Star cast fails to impress with their performances. Film is full with negative points - 80’s storyline, poor execution, below average music and much more….Especially Nishant has to work over on his facial expressions and both the girls, Sneha Ullal and Mughda Godse are a big let-down. It’s surely an avoidable affair.
There is nothing new about a love triangle. One has witnessed it a million times and so Bezubaan Ishq lacks novelty and offers nothing spectacular. The plot, stitched with numerous songs, seems forced and the situations contrived. Nevertheless, the music offers some respite as the songs are melodious, well picturised and shuttle between dreams, fantasy and reality. Raju Singh's background score is too overpowering at times. The costume designers too have taken pains to ensure that the screen is lively and abounds with colours. Watch Bezubaan Ishq only if you are a die-hard romantic and have nothing better to view.
Debutant writer-director Jashwant Gangnani delivers a cautionary tale of a film that reinforces gender stereotypes through popular culture. Bezubaan Ishq opens like a Balaji serial. It is a family-centric film even though the family in question is of dubious standards. Even the actors, can't seem to put up convincing performances. Godse tries too hard, only delivering what is expected from her in her final monologue. Ullal, on the other hand, doesn’t try at all. Meanwhile, Nishant is either genuinely stuck with that ever-constipated look or perhaps he is attempting to act. To make things worse, the actors fail to develop an onscreen chemistry among them. One remembers Grand Masti being called obscene. Funny thing is, Bezubaan Ishq displays the same attitude towards women, only it disguises itself under the garb of morals and values. Even more amusing is the fact that while the former was an adult film, the trash that Bezubaan Ishq doles out, is open for viewing even for impressionable audiences.
Tragic love stories loaded with sacrifices, obligations and heartbreak...once in a while, a film comes along which reminds you that some people are still stuck in the 80's time warp. The makers of Bezubaan Ishq certainly are. Their concept is ghastly outdated and the television soap opera-esque execution yawn-worthy. Supporting characters speak in weird accents and their appearance and disappearance make no difference to the plot. Slow-mo dream sequences pretty much form the whole story. Speaking of the lead actors, Ullal barely speaks and the hero is over-expressive. Godse is decent but she has nothing substantial to do.Bezubaan Ishq looks like an unintentional spoof of dated romantic films. The animation used in the last scene will crack you up!
