Anna is a biopic on the popular social activist Anna Hazare. Known for his Gandhian views, the film traces his life from his early days a child, to his army stint and ultimately his revolution against corruption. The film throws light on his efforts for urging the government to pass the Jan Lokpal bill in 2011. The film also features his single handed efforts in the development of his village, Ralegan Siddhi. Shashank Udapurkar story telling technique is absolutely pathetic and the treatment to a lot of inspiring tales from Anna’s life is unbelievably shallow. The struggle of Anna Hazare makes for an ideal feature film. The first half gives an insight into the lesser known side of the lead character. The honesty and sincerity of the director is visible in some parts though. Despite being made with a lot of honesty, the presentation is a bit out-dated. The screenplay is not linear as incidents are repetitive in the second half. In an attempt to cover all important moments from Anna Hazare's life and wrap the film in two hours and thirty minutes, the director fails to establish any sort of emotional connect. The film lacks pace due to the predictability factor. Watch it if you have keen interest towards social and political developments as the movie delivers what it is set to deliver.
